As part of celebrating Haleiwa’s culture, our town has unveiled an event to exhibit the works of art of its people. To be held every last Saturday of the month, the Haleiwa Art Walk will display not only paintings and crafts made by groups of people but also show performance arts presenting our town’s ethnic talents.
Galleries, shops, and restaurants will be participating the Haleiwa art walk. Among the participants, Haleiwa Eats, Global Creations, and Jameson’s have the most number of contributions. They will contribute 12, 11, and 13 artworks respectively.
Since Haleiwa’s culture is also known for its performers, they will also carry out special numbers such as fire dancing, hula, and other live entertainments. Surely, locals and tourists will enjoy it. It will make them feel the true spirit of the Haleiwa HI.
Independent artists will also be featured in the Art Walk. Galleries will expose their artists’ artworks in the streets and will probably be doing auctions. Other participants are Aloha Sun & Art, Art Is, Bali Moon Furniture Store, Banzai Sushi, Black Pearl Source, and Britton Gallery. Deep Ecology, Food For Thought, Haleiwa, Scoop of Paradise and Iwa Gallery will also join the Art Walk.
Aside from exhibition of artworks and acts of these groups and galleries, small entrepreneurs are also given the chance to show their products. There will be sidewalk sales where unique products and souvenirs can be bought. This will surely be enjoyed by the tourists and even the locals.
This event was conducted by the North Shore Chamber. Our government also gives a helping hand to promote and support the Haleiwa. According to them, with this event, talents of our residents will be showcased and this will add to the attractions of our town. This will also make our people excited and look forward to the last Saturdays of month. The coordinators will also use other facilities to give convenience to the people who will join the event.
